Except for skilled trades, such as electrical, heating, and plumbing, all the labor of home building is done by volunteers. This makes these houses more affordable for low income, working families. Home owners must also donate some labor to Habitat as part of the exchange.
David is removing blocks of wood from the concrete foundation. The resulting pockets in the foundation will hold the ends of the central beam which hold up the house.
