Since I have never heard of Bon-Ton, I searched and saw they have stores in Indiana. I never would have guessed - they are Carson's here. Has probably been 30 years since I've been in any Carson's. It was one of my favorite places to shop in my young adult years.
The tile work is pretty cheap advertising, isn't it? I was listening to Public Radio today and one feature was about how difficult it is for retail store chains to find replacement CEOs. Bon-Ton was mentioned as one of the chains currently trying to find a CEO.
I really like old buildings. The tile work is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteRemember I'm french: Bdlg stands for building, does Bon-ton mean something?..
ReplyDeleteBeing French, I think you know. It was a women's clothing chain, and I believe it translates from French to English as, "Fashionable".
DeleteOK! Thx! :o)
DeleteReminds me of dot-matrix printing, which was never fashionable. There are still a few Bon-Ton stores in my area but most of them have closed.
ReplyDeleteLove those old tile signs!
ReplyDeleteOh darn, I thought at first it said "Bon-bon" and I was going to ask you to send me some!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice, well-cared-for entryway.
