These are great old buildings. You don't see the handiwork that went into these buildings now a days. The stone work is beautiful and these buildings were built to last.
I hope this kind of building will last, they are so different and elegant!
VP, these buildings were both constructed in 1888, 124 years ago, so they have lasted. I know that isn't long in your part of the world, but it is good for the U.S.

No Lowell, this is a locally quarried quartzite called Sioux quartzite. Local Indians called this stone "rose stone." The stone is still quarried in this small town. As you can see the stone is dark red, and I think beautiful. Some of this stone is also used in building roads, and yes, they are also red.
