There are a number of lakes together here with a large park, so most of these lakes are not developed. There is also a sizable fish population that keep the pelicans well fed.
Yours are white. The ones in my part of Florida are usually brown pelicans. It is fun watching them flying low over the water and then -- whoosh! -- dive-bombing when they see fish.
These pelicans spend summers here and winters in Texas or Mexico. They are called Great White Pelicans, not a very imaginative name for a large, white bird. Most of their fishing is done in large flocks where they herd fish schools and then all dip into the water at once to feed. This method is cooperative and successful.
This must be a heaven for pelicans, and not only for pelicans.
