It's the same formation that I see here. They hang out on the bay then all of a sudden for no reason every geese head skyward.

They are more likely flying from the summer breeding grounds to their winter vacation.
I hope they are not heading north since it is really cold here today.
Heading north, I would think they would be heading south.
Amazing to have see them so late in the season. Any bird with any sense had already left the area. Great looking in black and white. I hope they had a good trip south.

This was only a small percentage of the geese flying as the flocks went from one horizon to the other.
...a beautiful sight, but ours don't migrate these days!
We won't see them until spring.
Some of our flocks migrate and others choose to stay in Virginia.

Those are a really annoying during summer time in Finland. They take over most parks and their s#¤% is all over the place.
