This is a Superior manufactured home delivered in two parts, and set on a foundation with a full basement. It is not a trailer house, but a high quality build using first rate materials. The house is delivered and set in a single day, but there is still considerable work to be done by Habitat For Humanity volunteers and partner families.

So inspiring!
ReplyDeleteIt's an exciting way to deliver superior housing. A recent segment on this old house featured a really nice, high end home built in a similar way. The tough part is getting the sections to the building site.
ReplyDeleteWay back in the 80s I shot a feature story for "Home Mechanix Magazine" on these then-new idea high quality manufactured homes. Included a trip to North Carolina to photograph the factory manufacturing process, which was fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI just got back from their thrift shop where I scored some classical LP's in fine shape--- 50 cents each! A great organization.
ReplyDeleteWhat a quick way to set up new homes! In Germany this usually is a 1 year process. Admittedly, as real estate is really expensive, most of our houses are at least 2 storey.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea TFG, Habitat and the volunteers do such an amazing job!
