Talk about a funny story - the car with no engine! That took some chutzpah on the part of the crook! As I recall my dad knew a pastor of the Covenant Church in Detroit who helped him out ... at least with cab fare to the airport. I don't know about the car financing. But my dad drove the car all the way to Los Angeles with no driver's license. He stopped in Topeka, Kansas where his brother had a Firestone store and had a radio and some other goodies put in it and then he had the top painted maroon! :)
