      That "golden glow" is the result of Iowa gliding the Capital dome with real gold. The millions of dollars spent is almost exactly what the legislature took out of the Iowa support for higher education.

      The Iowa Capital dome is gilded in 23k gold leaf, almost half a million dollars of the stuff, or 25 pounds of gold. But the soft golden light is pure Iowa sunset.

    Beautiful reflection, Taken. Out of the entire Iowa state budget, the cost was probably lost in rounding, but it provides a measure of pride to the citizens. I am not one who thinks the government should be run out of huts. (Another point of view.)
