I am with Jack and you that in most cases they really make sense. Especially in Europe I think where everything is much more crowded: too many cars in relation to the available space.
But really - sometimes I have to smile. Traffic circle were a kind of a craze ... every small town and village got one. No, not only one, but two, and three ... with approx. a traffic amount of five cars per hour .
I always like the smiling friendly traffic circles ;-)

DeleteHah! Around here, they are finally beginning to add traffic circles. They make good sense in lots of situations.

But they do change the kinds of traffic accidents that occur at intersections. And they provide a place for a civic garden in the center.

Deleteregarding accidents this is our most famous circle --- drivers get distracted by the red frogs sitting there and wham! they are inside the circle.
