James, by all means come to SD, but I would wait until May when the weather improves. The top building is the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) meeting hall. It is a fraternal-civic organization which includes both men and women as members and has since 1851.
This is interesting - those IOOF buildings seem to be very plain. I have seen a couple here, in Ontario that are almost the same style. Thanks for joining us with your signs.
One of these days I'll go to South Dakota, I hope. I wonder what the top building is used for?

ReplyDeleteNice sign in your last shot. I had to blow it up a bit to actually see it better. Glad to learn what the first one is used for. genie
ReplyDeleteThe first building is a very interesting style! It seems a little like church and a little like a home! Great photos!
