    Simply means it was for more than one railroad--- as I'm sure you know. Love the last one, L.A. It's often used in movies and ads even when at times when it's not portraying a train station as in one of the Indiana Jones movies.

    I think the tiles are in the pattern of the compass points?
    If so, very apt for the station and all who travel through it!
