Celebrating Revolution

This sign translates as, "Cuba Yes!!! 58 years of the revolution. Revolution is fighting for our dreams of justice for Cuba and for the world, which is the foundation of our patriotism, our socialism and our internationalism." It is unusual to see a picture of Fidel Castro in Cuba. They are rare in Havana, and only a few across the countryside. Che Guevara's Corda photo image is everywhere.

  1. Fidel certainly changed things for ever. And you have showed a number of excellent photos of parts of Cuba that the tourist does not normally see.

    1. Thank you, Andy. We spent four days in Havana, and then traveled to Trinidad, a 500 year old town on Cuba's south coast.

  10. I think Cuba hangs in the balance of suddenly being modernized because of the change in US policy and hanging onto its cultural pace and rich history of which it is most proud.

  11. That is odd. I wonder if there were more images of Fidel when he was in power.

    1. I don't think so. Fidel did like having his picture on billboards, but was happy to have Che's iconic picture symbolize the Revolution.

  12. That's not exactly the kind of sign that you can take in at a glance! Very interesting.
