Central Josefita RR

This railroad ran from a plantation 27 kilometers outside Havana where sugar was hauled to Havana for shipment. The steam engine that pulled this tender is a Rogers 2-6-0 built in Paterson, New Jersey in 1892. The Rogers Locomotive Works was the manufacture of the "General" engine that was involved in the Great Locomotive Chase of the Civil War.

  1. Another most interesting historical bit. Do you know the meaning of "Joserfita?"

  5. Lots of history here. Sugar is really in the news here in this part of Florida. "Big Sugar" is destroying our water and the Everglades. (not that I have a strong opinion or anything.)

  6. I imagine that there would be many plantation and travel stories attached to this railroad.
