These bison are young and small compared to older bulls. Yes, they are amazingly strong, and can be unpredictable, and quite dangerous. There was a strong fence between us. I took no chances here.

They belong to the state, and are part of the herd in Custer State Park. They roam freely over about 18,000 acres of grass land and forest.
