Canada geese


This large flock of Canada geese has decided to spend the winter here in very cold temperatures. I have no idea why this water is open. There are pickup trucks driving on the ice in other parts of the lake.

    I went out to the pumphouse a couple of nights ago-- to turn the heat lamp we use to prevent the pressure gauge or valves from freezing. It was 95 percent dark, but I was surprised to hear a bunch of Canada Geese flying over the house-- complaining about the cold. Seems to me that they would be settled in someplace by that time.

    thecontemplativecat here. I grew up along the Mississippi, in Illinois, close to Hannibal MO. After Dad finished harvesting, the geese arrived in a collection of cornfields where loose kernels were for the taking. The fields were covered by geese. Geese are amazing creatures, not exceptionally friendly. In fact, don't mess with them.

    Nice shot! That’s a huge flock of geese. Or maybe it’s… Wait, what do you call a bunch of flocks?
