When I was a kid, sometime in the late 40's, I remember traveling on the train as it ran right through some city streets-- I thought this was very strange. I like the way you framed this.
I was also traveling by train when I was little. It stopped every singel small place. Trains to day have no time for stopping, they ruch on to next big city
