This is a mural in Manitowoc, Wisconsin where they built 28 submarines during WWII. They side launched them because the river was not wide enough to launch them any other way. It's a proud history.
Very interesting mural. I didn't know subs were made Manitowac. While in CT, we were close to Groton, the "Submarine Capitol of the World". The Electric Boat Co was there and they build nuclear subs now. They don't launch them sideways..
That's impressive-- Where would a mural like that be?

ReplyDeleteInteresting way to launch them. Nice mural, thanks for participating in Monday Murals.
ReplyDeleteI've seen them launched this way before and always would think OH NO that's not going to work, but it seems to be just fine.
ReplyDeleteNice mural and an interesting way to launch them.
