The wel known long distance butterfly. They are signaled even in Europe but I have never seen one.

I have been seeing them over the last several weeks all heading south. Not as many as in other years though.

Is wasn't until I looked more closely that I realized the second photo was of a Viceroy butterfly.
Great catch! Butterflies can be hard to capture in a photo.
