    I'm trying to determine if this farm is still a working operation. The barn looks old but a lot of old barns have many years of useful life in them. I'm guessing this is a working farm. Looks rather isolated though.

      I would guess the silo held silage, a mixture of corn stalks and corn cut green and allowed to ferment. Cows love the stuff. Barns were originally all about cows.
