Gaudi's Sagrada Familia
I recently showed the ceiling of this church. Thought you might like a few more pictures to show what it looks like. It is gothic architecture with a modernist twist.
I've been there a few times, each time it has been a bit closer to completion. The colors from the stained glass are fantastic. Must have been a beautiful, sunny day.
They are hoping to complete construction by 2016, the 100th anniversary of Gaudi's death. He said his patron (God) was in no hurry to finish the church.
I think Southern Baptists could take some lessons about how to build a church from the people who did this beauty. As you know, I'm not religious, but a church like this does bring me to my knees!
You can show as many images as you like from here TFG, it really is the most awesome piece of architecture and seeing as I probably will never get there myself, I'm appreciating your fabulous images so much, merci beaucoup.

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing church - I've never seen photos of the inside before. The play of light is impressive.

ReplyDeleteO, nice to know that is finish inside. I was there some years ago.

ReplyDeleteQuite a place, Taken. It is high on my bucket list. You got great light and colors!
ReplyDeleteIt feels like the church that will never be finished. I visited in 2009 I think, and it still looks the same to me :)
