RIP Dave
This is my friend, Dave, who I worked with building Habitat For Humanity houses for the past decade. A stroke took him a month ago. It was a sudden and unexpected loss. He is greatly missed. This photo was taken last December as we finished House 63.
A nice portrait and I'm guessing that's the way he would want to be remembered - engaged in helping others. Another reminder that it call all end at any time and it's appropriate to enjoy each and every day as they are gifted to us.
Losing a friend is almost as bad-- sometimes worse-- as losing family. I managed to score some neat goodies at our local Habitat for Humanity store last week. Great organization.
I'm simultaneously sorry that you have lost a friend and glad you took the opportunity to mention Habitat for Humanity. I had not heard of it before and have now looked it up on Wikipedia. What a fascinating and impressive organisation! Thank you for introducing it to those of us for whom it is new.
Condolences with your friend. Yes the burden of becoming older is for all of us.

ReplyDeleteHouse 63? Whoa!!!
ReplyDeleteOur local Habitat chapter is working on house #64, #65, and #66 this building season. Two foundations poured, and another basement dug so far.
DeleteI'm sorry about your friend, Dave. That is really sad.
