This reminds me of the old movies, interesting place!
It looks old because it is old. Mission Concepcion moved here from East Texas in 1731, completed the building by 1755, and was abandoned by Spain by 1770. The residential part of the building is mostly gone as the stone was carried off for other uses, but the church is maintained and used with regular services. The latest interior restoration was in 2010.
Some planning, some style and then let's just expand this place. Interesting building!
It is interesting and most historic. In 1836 the first battle of Texas Independence occurred here when Texas Revolutionaries Jim Bowie and James Fannin lead a fight against Mexican troops.
Back in the day they built those buildings to last.
This building had Spanish architects and indigenous labor to cut and place stone. There was also a Spanish stone carver involved in construction, and he was responsible for the carved details.
