      A single 15 barge tow carries as much bulk cargo as 1050 semi-trailer trucks. That is over 3 million tons of grain, the cheapest way to move grain.

      Yes, tow boats push barges while tugs pull and push ships.

      You are right. Tow boat pilots can position their tow within inches of the lock walls.

    Tow boats are fascinating to watch at work, tough vessels with extremely skilled captains. Now I feel like heading down to Fremantle TFG 😊

    The company I last worked for had a big fleet of barges. I embiggened the picture. Doesn't look like ours.
