Dino and IH Dealer Gone

  1. These pictures are all about change. The top picture has a nostalgic post and rail fence that was all about horses. This is emphasized by the horse collar on one post. Horses were replaced by cars and tractors. Dino was the corporate symbol of Sinclair Oil Co. whose gas stations are now mostly gone. There used to be dozens of tractor companies, but now just a few as there are fewer and fewer farmers. Perhaps petroleum based power and transportation is also going the way of the dinosaurs?

  2. I haven't seen a dino in years! :-) I do remember well Sinclair Oil, though. IH, I assume, references International Harvester. Re petroleum based power and transportation: We know we've peaked. We're running out of oil, in spite of what the politicians say. It's just a matter of time but we're on the down slope. What really gets me, though, is the idiots calling for more drilling, risking our "sacred" environment for the sake of larger profits (when we already provide huge subsidies to the oil companies) and then a good percentage of the oil we recover is sent overseas - to China, for example.

It seems that oil and other "natural" products are the property of all the people and that all the people should share in the profits. We sure as hell shouldn't give tax money to help them drill for oil which they keep for themselves.

Okay, I'm done ranting for today!

    1. Lowell I agree with you and think your rant hit the mark. We are importing more oil than ever to make into gasoline, but we are a major EXPORTER of gasoline. Gas only sells of $3.70-$3.80 here, but more like $6.00+ in Europe. Big oil is just taking the gas to where they can make the largest profit, AND they get huge Am. government subsidies. Big oil has never made more profit than right now, and mostly at our expense.
