Mary Robinson fought for human rights throughout her whole career. In 2010 she was the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights. She is a member of the Club of Madrid, a group which works to promote Democracy world wide. She is also a member of a group of world leaders called The Elders which works to solve difficult world problems. This group includes individuals such as Nelson Mandela, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
