The Red-bellied Woodpecker is such a striking bird, with its vivid red cap and unique markings. It's always a delight to spot them in the wild, especially when they are busy tapping away on trees. I shared a new post; you are invited to read.
How beautiful. I don't get to see these birds often here in Montreal...turkeys rarely as well, however I did see a turkey 😳 this morning on a college campus on my walk to my blood test. 🙃
What a beautiful bird! I once had a woodpecker try to make a home in my stucco—definitely not beautiful. I’m glad you were able to spot this one in its natural glory!
I also see these guys in CT and FL. Always seems odd to call them red-bellied when the conspicuous red is on the top of their heads and there is barely any red on their bellies. I think "red-headed" must have already been assigned. (Jack)
Woodpeckers are cool. I love the way you caught this guy. I want to see what he sees!
ReplyDeleteShe is probably a baby. Nice red

ReplyDeleteA real beautiful bird and I am so glad we have them here too. Once even in our garden.
ReplyDelete...a visitor here too.
ReplyDeleteI have been hearing woodpeckers but haven't spotted one yet this spring.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of woodpeckers here in our yard, and have even seen a Pileated from time to time. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a little cutie.
