  4. These are bales of corn stalks made after the corn is harvested. They are used to add fiber and bulk to distillers grain, a by product of ethanol production, so it can be fed to cattle and hogs. But these bales remove nutrients from the soil. Corn stalks use to be incorporated back into the fields adding organic material. This farm practice is a trade off.

    1. The bales weigh about 1,200 pounds and sell for $40-$50 each.
