Minneapolis Ford Tractor
The Minneapolis Ford tractor was a failure as a useful tractor, but it did lead to the creation of the universally acknowledged Nebraska Tests for all tractors. Nebraska passed a law in 1919 that any tractor sold in the state had to pass a set of tests to measure drawbar and belt pulley horsepower (later PTO hp), reliability, fuel economy, and engine wear. Farmers and tractor manufacturers World wide pay close attention to the results of the Nebraska tests. The Minneapolis Ford tractor had nothing to do with Henry Ford or his company, but they beat him to the Ford Tractor name so Henry called his tractor the Ford & Son Tractor, later just Fordson.
