Thousands of Catalonian farmers drove their tractors from all over the provence to protest low agricultural prices in Barcelona. They point to the European Union as depressing farm prices and spreading lower quality goods. They are rightly worried that low prices will push them out of farming.
Last years you see a lot of tractors in a row protesting against something. Wonder what is the cause.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a problem for farmers everywhere TFG.. protesting is a good way to get their point across!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the least fortunate members of society is generally the ones who suffer from the policies of the most fortunate.
ReplyDeleteFarmers work so hard for us all.
ReplyDeleteI've seen tractor parades here, but seeing one in a European city seems surreal. It shouldn't, but it does.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad to see farms dwindling here much less over there. We all need the farmers.

The same concern everywhere, including us.
ReplyDeleteIt is a tremendous sight to see many tractors at the same time and even in the city.
I guess I won't try to engage in a debate over agricultural pricing. The phenomenon of low pricing of many goods hurting the producer but benefitting the consumer (at least in the short run) is a core struggle of market economics.
