  3. I am trying to decide if it's a ghost sign or are they still located there.

    1. No, H. P. Lau Co., roasters of Milady Coffee, is long gone. The building was built in 1904, by the company, and the sign shortly after. It's a ghost sign.

  7. What a neat name for the coffee. Love that you found the writing still in good shape on the old building. These are becoming fewer and fewer.

  8. The sign looks to be in good condition. Sadly, I've never heard of Milady, so cannot comment on the taste.

  9. I asked Milady about Milady Coffee and she had never heard the name. Is that sign a blast from the past or is there still a coffee named Milady around?

  11. Milady Coffee was roasted and distributed by the H. P. Lau Co. of Lincoln, Nebraska, a wholesale grocer. This company operated from 1870 until it was sold to Nash Finch in 1963. The building was built on 1904 by H. P. Lau Co. The coffee brand may have stopped decades before the sale to Nash Finch.

  14. A very well preserved ghost sign. I imagine that it still presides grandly over the streetscape.
