Habitat Volunteers Jessica and David

  1. Kudos to them. I think Jessica has the harder job, though. And I note that David has hidden his thumb while hammering. Wish I'd thought of that on numerous occasions! :)

    1. Jessica is leveling the excavation next to the foundation to accept a porous pipe to drain water away from the house.

  2. Volunteers? Wow, we don't have such volunteers here...

    1. Except for skilled trades, such as electrical, heating, and plumbing, all the labor of home building is done by volunteers. This makes these houses more affordable for low income, working families. Home owners must also donate some labor to Habitat as part of the exchange.

  6. These make me feel happy. I can't tell what David is hammering in the last one...

    1. David is removing blocks of wood from the concrete foundation. The resulting pockets in the foundation will hold the ends of the central beam which hold up the house.
