  1. This is an old station... probably also the price is "old"...

    1. I'll bet the price of gas is right up to date even if the pumps are antiques. These pumps may or may not work. Don't think any of the manual pumps actually pump gas, and probably haven't for many decades.

  2. I think this guy is antique. I like the old manual pump in the middle. They're in museums but to see one like this outside must be rare.

    1. Red, I found two old gas stations with manual pumps. See: http://grantedmutterings.blogspot.com/2013/02/waring-general-store.html
for the other one. Both of these were in Texas Hill Country. Not sure any of these pumps work, but they may.

  4. Wow, I've never tried with manual pumps. I like the atmosphere of this old gas station.

    1. By the 1940s most of the manual gas pumps were replaced by electric pumps. With the manual pumps, gas was pumped by turning a crank which filled a glass tank at the top. That tank had gallon measures on it. It then flowed into the car by gravity.

  5. Love the Texas hill country. We would often visit when we lived in Houston! Y'all come back, y'hear?

    1. Despite the tourist places in Hill Country, it has a charm and beauty all it's own. But life and times have been hard for many living there. Hope to go back many times.
