Chalk Craze Covers City

  1. Some of that artistry is very good. Not sure I like the idea of defacing public property, though, no matter how good the art is. Fortunately, this will wash away - providing you get some rain.

    1. Fortunately the first week of August provided us with 1.6 inches of much needed rain. The chalk drawings are now gone. This is more rain than we got the whole month of July. These chalk drawings were sponsored by the Children's Museum here in Brookings, and were on sidewalks around the Museum. This isn't random graffiti.

  2. Love you photos.

I have been lucky enough to be in the right place a few times to capture chalk art done by the kids at the city park day camp. Love how original and talented some of them are.

There is also a house I like to visit when in Omaha because the children that live there are always decorating the drive way. It gets hosed off almost daily so it makes for great return visits.

  3. Wow, that's some fine art, especially in chalk!

  4. I like chalk art. It livens things up, gives artists an outlet . . . and it goes away next time it rains. I wish our society could persuade graffiti "artists" to give up their spray paint and pick up chalk.
