Yesterday the local newspaper reported that Brookings County, as well as neighboring counties, gets a disaster declaration from the federal government. Flooding caused over a million dollars damage to infrastructure. Thirty families were flooded out of their homes and spent several nights in emergency shelters.
We didn't know we lived on the sea shore but it sure did look that way.

The water has now receded, but the damage is still there. Federal aid will only pay for 75 percent of the damage.
