Habitat for Humanity House Dedication, September '10
Spent part of the summer working on this Habitat house doing a wide variety of construction tasks. Got to work with a crew of retired locals, "caravaners" who travel around the country helping build Habitat houses, and the home owner's family. This house has five bedrooms, and is one of the larger Habitat houses around here. I've worked on two other Habitat houses along this street last year, and ground should be broken for another shortly. Our local chapter has now built nearly 50 houses, five this year and seven last year. Speakers at this dedication ceremony included our Representative in the U.S. Congress, our Representative in the State Legislature, and our Lieutenant Governor as well as other dignitaries. People at the dedication included many people who donated labor and helped with the build in any number of ways. The new owners got to move in on October first.
