Oak trees blown down


This storm produced straight line winds that blew down around 100 trees at Oakwood State Park. This wind seemed to hit the older part of the park.

Sky and Clouds


The Midwest has "interesting" weather throughout the year. In winter it takes the form of deep snow and blizzards, and in summer our interesting weather is thunderstorms and rain. Sometimes these storms can be quite destructive to trees and buildings, but they often produce spectacular cloud and light shows. Here are a few I've seen recently.

Railroad stew and sunshine


Ate a plate of railroad stew provided by the club. It was excellent. Rode in the caboose. It was a fine day enjoyed with good friends. I'll try to switch subjects tomorrow. Perhaps people are getting tired of railroad related images.

Supervisors track maintainer


There is a small number of people who restore and run antique railroad track maintainers. These are sometimes called "speeders" which is a misnomer as they only hit a top speed of about 25 mph. But they are fun to ride on if the weather is pleasant.
