Two Smart Cars

  2. A few years ago I rented a Smart Car for a couple days. The inside is as roomy as any small car, but getting into it feels odd as there is very little car behind the driver's seat. They drive just fine and get around 60 MPG. The diesel ones do even better. They are great around town and will run highway speeds, but it's unnerving to look up at truck tires.

  5. We have plenty of them here , but I guess they're unusual in Usa , where lots of people have big cars ..

    1. They are not unusual in San Diego. I've seen lots of them, but in other parts of the country they are not so common.

  6. Well... they may be dumb but they are sometimes the only way to find a parking space in Paris...

    1. They make great sense in congested cities. They get around just fine, use little fuel, and as you say, are easy to park.

  7. are they the ones that charge by electricity?

    1. In the U.S. they are gas engine. In Europe and Canada they also off a diesel motor. Perhaps they now have an electric version, but I think these are gas powered.

  8. I'm sure they're very politically and environmentally correct - but give me a 'dumb' car any day!!
